American Airlines: Latin America, Caribbean Show Growth

American Airlines showed a 32 percent improvement in the Latin America and Caribbean region in April, according to new data.

The company reported total revenue passenger miles of 11.36 billion in Latin America and the Caribbean through April, up 32 percent from a total of just over 11 billion in 2013.

Overall, the carrier saw 32 percent improvement in its international routes, and a 25 percent overall improvement in passenger miles across all of its destinations.

For the month of April, the Latin American region (which includes the Caribbean) posted 63 percent growth, with a total of 2.674 million revenue passenger miles.

American Airlines said the data combined traffic results for both AMR Corporation and US Airways Group.
