Earthquake Causes Light Shaking in Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands

A 3.9-magnitude earthquake north of the British Virgin Islands caused light shaking in Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands early Monday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake, which occurred at around 1:28 AM local time, was felt

Its epicentre was 42 kilometres north-northwest of Road Town in the British Virgin Islands and about 131 kilometres east-northeast of Carolina, Puerto Rico.

It struck at a depth of 39 kilometres.

There were reports of light shaking in St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, Fajardo in Puerto Rico and even Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan.
