Cuba’s Fidel Castro Meets With CELAC Leaders in Havana

Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro held meetings with several of the regional leaders visiting Havana this week for the CELAC summit, the government said.

On Monday, Castro met with Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, with whom he discussed “the historical relations between Cuba and Jamaica” and other issues.

Castro also met with Argentina President Cristina Fernandez on Sunday.

Castro’s public and diplomatic appearances have been relatively rare in recent years.

In a statement, Cuba’s government said Rousseff expressed her “satisfaction” with the recent arrival of thousands of Cuban doctors in Brazil.
