Rum Journal: A Midnight Mojito From Martinique’s Depaz

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - September 22, 2013 - 10:33 am

We all know the Ti’ Punch, the classic cocktail of the French West Indies.

And we all know the Mojito, the classic cocktail of Cuba.

Well, rhum house Depaz, located near the base of the famous Mont Pelee in Martinique, has come up with a happy medium between the two.

It combines the ease of making a Ti’ Punch with the minty twist of the Mojito.

Here’s the recipe for the Depaz Midnight Mojito, courtesy of Depaz and Contemporary Cocktails:

Ingredients:

8-10 Fresh Mint Leaves
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice (3-4 fresh lime wedges)
1 oz Depaz Cane Syrup
1.5 oz Depaz Blue Cane Amber Rhum

Preparation:

Squeeze fresh lime wedges into a cocktail shaker. Add ice and all remaining ingredients into the cocktail shaker.

Shake vigorously. Strain contents into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

Cheers!
