Trinidad stands “ready to partner” with Uganda as that country seeks to develop its oil and gas sector, according to Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine.

The Minister held talks this week with a visiting Ugandan delegation including Energy Minister Irene Muloni.

She was leading a delegation that visited Trinidad’s natural gas offices, its facilities in Guayaguayare, the University of Trinidad and Tobago campus at Point Lisas and the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, among other sites.

The Ugandan delegation also took in Trinidad’s Emancipation Day festivities this week in the capital.

Uganda, which has an estimated 3.5 billion barrels of oil, is slated to launch production in the next two years.

Trinidad has been eyeing possible energy investments in Africa in recent years, including an agreement in 2011 with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation to supply energy for power plants in Ghana.
