Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe held talks on Friday with Patrick Nicoloso, the new French Ambassador to Haiti.

The talks covered education, strengthening the government’s general capacity, infrastructure projects and support for sustainable development, according to a statement from Lamothe’s office.

Those are the areas covered by the French action plan for Haiti from 2013 to 2015.

Lamothe said the administration of President Michel Martelly placed “great importance” on relations between Haiti and France.

After a “fruitful” meeting, Lamothe said he “welcomed the consolidation of friendship between the two peoples.”

Nicoloso is succeeding former Ambassador Didier Le Bret as France’s envoy in the country.
