Haiti will hold its “Carnival of Flowers” for the second time, according to the country’s Ministry of Culture.
The country first held the carnival in July 2012.
This year’s fete will take place from July 28 to July 30, under the theme of “Yon Ayisyen, Yon pye bwa,” or “A Haitian, A Tree.”
In a statement, the Ministry said the choice of the theme aimed to strengthen enthusiasm for the government’s high-profile reforestation campaign.
Haiti President Michel Martelly has declared this year the “Year of the Environment,” having launched a project with the Dominican Republic earlier this month to spur reforestation efforts.
