Dominica’s government has moved to rename a sporting complex in La Plaine for a coach and footballer who died in an accident on April 19.

Kurt Hector, coach of Dominica’s national football team, and footballer Norran Jno Hope died when their vehicle fell into a sinkhole at Pond Case on April 19.

They were en route to travel to St Vincent for the Windward Islands Football Championship.

Petter Saint Jean, parliamentary representative for La Plaine, said the contribution of the two footballers to Dominica’s sports “will forever live on the lips, and in the hearts of residents and visitors.”

Dominica’s government will also be granting two scholarships to the Dominica State College to “aspiring young sport personalities” of good academic standing in their honour.

Kelly Hector, Kurt Hector’s daughter, will also be receiving a scholarship to allow her to complete her studies at the Dominica State College.
