Legendary Jamaican jazz pianist Monty Alexander will headline the upcoming Dominica Jazz ‘N Creole festial.
The Kingston native recently celebrated his 50th year in music, accompanied by the release of his latest album, Harlem – Kingston Express Live, something which he spoke about to Caribbean Journal last year. http://caribjournal.wpengine.com/2012/03/09/monty-alexander-jamaica-is-my-life/
Alexander will feature a range of standard and original songs, along with Jamaican rhythms, according to the Discovery Dominica Authority.
His career has seen him collaborate with music stars including Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Tony Bennett and Barbara Hendricks, among others.
The Jazz ‘N Creole festival will begin with an “expanded jazz experience” with a Pan N’ Jazz soiree at the Evergreen Hotel.
