Organization of American States Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza met Friday with Bahamas Financial Services Minister Ryan Pinder in Washington for talks on economic policy.

The discussions included issues on economic cooperation, financial development, investment and tourism.

The meeting also covered topics including the Bahamas’ bilateral economic agenda with countries such as Brazil, Mexico, the US and Panama.

The two sides considered the possibility that the Bahamas could receive the support of the OAS through its Foreign Trade Information System, which centralizes information on trade policy in the region.

Pinder was recently part of a high-level Bahamian delegation to the CARICOM Summit last month in Haiti.
