St Kitts and Nevis Foreign Minister Sam Condor has tendered his resignation.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the move to Caribbean Journal.

Condor’s decision to leave the Cabinet of Prime Minister Dr Denzil Douglas comes after a shakeup that included the dismissal of Senior Minister Dr Timothy Harris and the appointment of a new Attorney General, Jason Hamilton, last week.

Patrice Nisbett and Sen. Nigel Carty received new portfolios in the Cabinet reshuffle.

Condor is the Member of Parliament for the District of Constituency #3 for West Basseterre. He had also been serving as Deputy Prime Minister.

The government has seen a series of high-profile disagreements in recent weeks, including one over a proposal to increase the number of Senators in Parliament.

The political turmoil in the twin-island federation largely began in early December, Opposition Leader Mark Brantley filed a motion of no-confidence against the Labour Party government.

The Prime Minister’s office could not be reached for comment.
