Dr Rufus Ewing, leader of the Turks and Caicos Islands’ Progressive National Party, met Monday with United Kingdom Foreign Office Minister Henry Bellingham in London.

Bellingham’s portfolio includes the UK’s overseas territories.

The Minister said he was “delighted” to welcome Dr Ewing to the Olympics.

“We had a good and constructive discussion about the financial and economic situation in TCI, the forthcoming elections, Dr Ewing’s vision for the islands and the bilateral relationship between the UK and the TCI,” he said following the talks.

The Turks and Caicos will be holding elections in November for the first time since the territory’s self-rule was suspended by allegations of widespread corruption.
