Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe has arrived in London for an official visit to the United Kingdom.

The trip, which began Wednesday and lasts through Saturday, will involve talks with politicians and sports officials.

He has also already met with fashion designer Donna Karan, a prominent advocate of Haiti.

Lamothe will also meet with the Queen Elizabeth II, along with Prince Charles and some Heads of Government from the Caribbean who have traveled to London for the Olympics.

He will also visit the Haitian delegation competing at the Games.

Lamothe has expressed his satisfaction over the United Kingdom’s recent decision to open its first diplomatic mission in Haiti since 1996, a move that was announced by United Kingdom Foreign Secretary William Hague in late June.

The new British Embassy in Haiti will report to the UK’s Ambassador in the Dominican Republic.

Lamothe said Haiti’s development was related to strengthening its cooperation with other nations.

The Prime Minister’s visit follows a visit earlier this week to Washington, DC.
