Bahamas PM Names Philip Brave Davis Deputy PM and Works Minister

New Bahamas Prime Minister Perry Christie has appointed Philip “Brave” Davis as the country’s new Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Works and Urban Development.

Davis is the member-elect for Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador.

He will be sworn in Wednesday afternoon at Government House.

Christie said at his swearing-in ceremony Tuesday that he would complete his full list of Cabinet appointments by Friday.

Davis is the Deputy Leader of the ruling Progressive Liberal Party.

He succeeds Brent Symonette as Deputy Prime Minister and Neko Grant as Works Minister.

Christie’s PLP won the country’s Monday elections by a convincing margin.
