Barbados Launching Energy Smart Fund

Barbados Prime Minister Freundel Stuart announced that the government will launch a so-called Sustainable Energy Investment Programme tomorrow at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

The programme, which is aimed at promoting energy efficiency, is a $10 million project designed in collaboration with the Enterprise Growth Fund, Ltd.

The initiative is also called the Energy Smart Fund, looks to increase the use of viable renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies to decrease Barbados’ dependency on imported fossil fuels.

Funding for the project was provided by the Inter-American Development Bank.
