Barbados Turns Focus to Manufacturing

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - September 17, 2011 - 11:10 am

The Barbadian government is intent on enhancing the country’s manufacturing sector, Minister Denis Kellman announced Thursday.

Kellman was speaking at the launch of Caribbean LED Lighting at the Hilton Barbados Thursday.

“We will seek through policy formulation, an enabling framework and advocacy to create an environment that is conducive to the sector’s expansion and sustainability,” he said.

Kellman, who is the country’s Industry Minister, said the government would continue to give necessary assistance to “raise the standards of the manufacturing sector” as long as doing so did not conflict with World Trade Organization rules.
