Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago have begun talks on ways in which the two countries could cooperate in the energy sector.

Grenadian Energy Minister Nazim Burke met Wednesday with Trinidad Energy Minister Se. Kevin Ramnarine to talk about areas of potential collaboration between the two states.

Burke said Grenada wished to learn from Trinidad’s vast experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, something which Grenada is looking to develop.

Ramnarine said Trinidad is eager to work with Grenada to develop its institutional and legislative capacity in the petroleum sector.

As part of the talks, the two countries agreed on a draft framework agreement that would be prepared and reviewed before the end of this year; Grenada and Trinidad will also conduct joint seismic studies in the areas of interest.
