Bahamas Set for Summer Boating “Flings”

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 26, 2022

The Bahamas Tourist Office is set to host dozens of boaters in its popular “Boating Flings” this summer.

The caravans of boaters will head from Florida to the Out Islands of The Bahamas; that will include three Flings to Bimini on June 23-26; July 21-24; and July 28-31.

The highlight of the series is a 10-day “fling” to the Abaco archipelago, set from July 7-17.

Both first-time crossers and experienced boaters are encouraged to join the series.

Each fling departs from the Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale, with a lead boat guiding the caravan and a “straggler boat” supporting the back end.

The aim is to help support the group every step of the way.

The flings include a number of activities across stopover islands along the way, “savour delicious Bahamian cuisine and engage in authentic Bahamian experiences.”

Every fling has a mandatory captain’s meeting the day before departure.

The minimum boat length for each fling is 22 feet, and spaces are limited.

It’s one of the most unique ways to enjoy the boating wonders of The Bahamas.
