There’s a new acting director of the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board. 

Tourist Board veteran Mary Lightbourne has been named to the role, succeeding Pamela Ewing, who announced her resignation this week. 

Ewing had served for 17 years at the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board, most recently as Director of Tourism. 

The winner of the 2022 Caribbean Tourism Director of the Year in the Caribbean Travel Awards, Ewing helped spearhead TCI’s tourism reopening amid the pandemic and its rebranding strategy. 

“The Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board would like to thank Pamela Ewing for her invaluable contributions and leadership over the past 17 years,” said Tourism Minister Josephine Connolly. “Ms. Ewing’s strategic marketing and impactful initiatives have forever changed the positioning our beloved Islands as one of the most coveted and accessible destinations for travelers across the globe. We are extremely grateful for her years of dedication to the Tourist Board and wish Ms. Ewing nothing but success in her future ventures.”

Lightbourne has been with the Tourist Board for 16 years, part of more than two decades of tourism experience. 

“The past 17 years with the Tourist Board have been full of achievements, challenges, and great success; none of which could have been possible without the help and support of the hardworking team at the board, in addition to our travel and hotel partners,” Ewing said in a statement. “I would like to thank these partners for their support during the many accolades and defining moments we worked to secure over the years, and I look forward to seeing the Islands continue to flourish and welcome travelers for years to come.”
