Bahia Principe Reopens Tulum Resort After $40M Renovation

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - November 18, 2020

Bahia Principe has reopened its Grand Tulum resort following the completion of a $40 million renovation project.

The property, which began welcoming guests again on Nov. 15, underwent a “complete” remodel, according to the company.

“We are very excited to officially open our doors and welcome clients at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum. Despite it being a very difficult year with many setbacks, we are very proud to open this resort as planned,” explained Lluisa Salord, SVP Global Sales, Contracting & Distribution.

The all-inclusive resort saw a complete redesign off ts rooms and common areas, all under a theme of “highlighting ancestral Mexican and Mayan traditions,” according to a statement from the company.

“The entire team has put a lot of love and dedication into this project to appropriately showcase its Mayan legacy that can be experienced throughout the resort, linked to our ‘Origin’ concept,” Salord said.

Other changes to the property included a refreshed culinary program, along with a new kids club called “Zama,” named after Tulum’s historic walled city.

That’s along with new entertainment spaces, splash areas and the property’s existing three pools and beach.

The property is set within the broader Bahia Principe Riviera Maya resort complex, which includes four resorts and a PGA Riviera Maya by Bahia Principe golf course.
