Tradewind Aviation Launching Carbon Offset Program

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 9, 2020

Tradewind Aviation, the leading luxury airline in the Caribbean, has announced plans to launch a new carbon offset program.

The new initiative aims to help reduce the environmental impact of air travel.

Offset contributions help Tradewind invest in environmental projects that reduce emissions equal to the carbon emissions of each flight.

Each offset purchased by customers will be contributed to programs managed by Terrapass, a leading sustainability solution.

“With a very small investment, you can have a significant impact on our planet by reducing your carbon footprint and positively contributing to sustaining the environment,” Tradewind said in a statement.

Travelers can purchase offsets during the initial booking phase or add to existing itineraries.

As an example, the cost of offsetting the carbon produced by a two-hour flight could equate to around $15.

“In a world where sustainability is increasingly more important, Tradewind is proud to implement this new program into our business model,” the company said.

Tradewind, which has significant operations in the northeastern United States, operates scheduled, charter and private flights to many of the Caribbean’s leading destinations, including regularly-scheduled service from San Juan to St Barth.
