By: Caribbean Journal Staff - July 8, 2020

The first United States travelers since the beginning of the pandemic returned to Bermuda this week.

Bermuda reopened its borders on July 1, with the first commercial flights from the U.S. on July 6.

JetBlue is now flying from New York to Bermuda, with Boston-Bermuda flights set to relaunch on Aug. 1.

The first international airline to touch down in Bermuda was Air Canada, which resumed flights on July 2.

WestJet will be launching flights from Toronto on Aug. 6, while British Airways is resuming London service on July 17.

A number of Bermuda hotels have already reopened their doors, including Rosewood Bermuda, The Loren, the Royal Palms and Grape Bay Cottages.

Bermuda has launched a number of travel protocols for incoming visitors: they include a required “Bermuda travel authorization (find it here) filled out within 48 hours of departure, and proof of a negative COVID test within five days of departure.

All visitors must wear face masks and practice social distancing at the airport, in flight and upon arrival “to the greatest extent possible.”

Bermuda is also asking visitors to take their own temperature twice per day while on the island and report it via an online app.

They are also required to take a COVID test on Day 3, Day 7 and Day 14 fo their trips to Bermuda.
