Anguilla Tourism on Track for Record-Breaking Season

After a record-breaking number of stayover visitors arrivals in February, Anguilla is expecting the trend to continue throughout the remainder of the peak tourist season, the island’s tourist board said this week.

The total of 9,289 tourist arrivals was the largest number recorded for the month of February as far back as 1993, when the agency began tracking visitor arrivals.

“This winter we are seeing the recovery that we have all worked so diligently to achieve,” said Cardigan Connor, Parliamentary Secretary in Anguilla’s Ministry of Tourism. “Our success is entirely due to the monumental efforts of the citizens of Anguilla, the Government of Anguilla and the private sector.”

“We all came together and made the financial, personal, and sweat equity investments to rebuild our island – our homes, our schools, our churches, our places of business, and our tourism product,” said Connor.

This follows on the island’s successful performance in January 2019, which also saw the highest tourist arrivals figure recorded for the past 26 years.

All source markets contributed to this record increase.

In terms of overall visitor arrivals, including excursionists or day-trippers, February 2019 recorded the sixth highest figure since 1993, with 15,549 arrivals.
