JetBlue Is Adding Wi-Fi on Its Caribbean Flights

In a boon for travelers to the Caribbean, JetBlue Airways is adding Wi-Fi across its Caribbean network.

The addition comes as JetBlue has kicked-off a years-in-the-making restyling to its cabin experience, with the first aircraft in its fleetwide restyling program making its debut this week.

The new-look cabins mean wider seats, custom seatback entertainment, mobile phone pairing, new power sources and improved Wi-Fi connectivity, among other changes.

About one-third of JetBlue’s aircraft will complete their re-stylings by the end of the year, according to a statement from the company.

“JetBlue rocked the airline industry in 2000 with seatback television and all leather seats. In our first makeover since, this incredible new onboard experience represents what the founders would have done if they were launching JetBlue today,” said Marty St. George, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, JetBlue. “The new experience brings together technology, entertainment, and comfort with the great service JetBlue customers love so much.”

The company said connectivity was a big part of the thought behind the redesigned cabins.

The new Wi-Fi upgrades will mean an expanded coverage area that includes throughout the Caribbean and Latin America — where JetBlue’s Fly-Fi service had not been available before.

JetBlue said the new seats were the widest available on any Airbus A320 aircraft, and the “most legroom in coach of any U.S. airline.”
