Golf legend Greg Norman will spearhead the transformation of the 18-hole Sandals Saint Lucia Golf and Country Club at Cap Estate.

The former St Lucia Golf and Country Club, which was acquired by Sandals Resorts last year, will be converted by Greg Norman and his Greg Norman Golf Course Design team into a “new, international standard championship golf course,” according to a statement from Sandals.

Greg Norman

Norman visited with Sandals CEO Adam Stewart in St Lucia this week to discuss the transformation plans.

“This golf course is a diamond in the rough and we are thrilled and honored that Sandals has asked our design firm to bring it to life,” Norman said. “We have a fantastic partnership with Sandals and the Stewarts and look forward to working on another destination with their team in St. Lucia.”

According to Stewart, the new championship golf course could be finished as soon as the next 12 to 14 months.

The course is already considered among the most challenging golf courses in the Caribbean.

“It’s going to be a game-changer for this destination and it’s going to be a game-changer for our company,” Stewart said.

Norman has designed several golf layouts in the Caribbean, including the Sandals Emerald Bay Golf Course in Great Exuma in the Bahamas and the CuisinArt Golf Club in Anguilla, among others.
