Nevis is open for business is usual after the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, tourism officials said this week.

“We are incredibly thankful that Nevis has had no structural damage as a result of both Hurricane Maria and Irma before it,” said Nevis Tourism Authority CEO Greg Phillip. “While we had gale force winds and heavy rain that initially caused vegetation debris, the hurricanes veered away from us and we are fine.”

The Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport in St. Kitts is open receive visitors, as is the Vance Amory International Airport in Nevis.

The inland resorts that sit in the shadow of Nevis Peak are all operating normally.

A few were closed as they do every year for regular refurbishments, but other resorts are open year-round, according to the tourism authority.

Hermitage Inn, a historic inland plantation resort is already welcoming guests.

The beachfront properties took a few weeks to repair after assessing minor damages, and are just announcing their reopening dates.

Four Seasons Resort Nevis, the largest resort in Nevis, suffered no major damage and will be reopening and ready to welcome guests again beginning Friday, September 29, 2017.

Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, which had sustained damage to its beach and bar, is reopening October 4, 2017.

The Montpelier Plantation will reopen Oct. 8.

Its Great House and cottages sustained no damages.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have weathered these catastrophic storms that came virtually back to back and devastated so many others in the Caribbean,” Phillip said. “So our good news is bittersweet. We welcome guests and look forward to a healthy festive season, but our hearts and minds are never far from our neighbors.”
