Spain’s government has enhanced its cooperation with CARICOM’s office in Haiti, committing to sustain the Caribbean Community’s regional office in the country.

The funding, which is directed through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, will support administrative operations and programme activities undertaken in Haiti by CARICOM through December.

Spain has long partnered with the office in Haiti, which opened in 2007.

According to CARICOM, Haiti was about to make several significant steps toward integration when the earthquake hit in January 2010.
