A monthly dose of Caribbean

There are so many things you can get today via subscription box: pet supplies, gluten-free snacks, organic laundry detergent …  you can even have artisanal bacon delivered to your door. But sunshine in a box? Now that’s an idea we can get behind.

OK, so you don’t actually get a box full of sunshine, but the monthly offering from the The Sunshine Society delivers the warm, sunshine-y spirit of the Caribbean to subscribers in the form of a curated collection of island-inspired items that are well worth the buy-in.

November’s box, the first from the British Virgin Islands-based company, is chock full of tropical treats any island-loving woman would appreciate: a delicate silver necklace with a sand dollar pendant; a kimono-style beach cover-up; a set of wind chimes; handmade soap and artisanal seasoned sea salt from the BVI; and a note card from a St. Thomas-based artist. Each item was selected by the society’s co-founder, Chrissann Nickel, founder of the website Women Who Live On Rocks, and subsequent boxes will feature four to six picks from other “sunny souls” and the islands they call home.

“My partner Casey and I both love our island home,” says Nickel. “We also love to give gifts. And we thought The Sunshine Society box would be the perfect way for us to share everything we find so special about the tropics. Our hope is to continue to connect beach-loving souls, wherever they are in the world, through this new joyful tribe.”

Sunshine Society subscriptions cost $45 a month to U.S. and Canadian addresses, and include up to six items with a combined retail value of approximately $70. To get your hands on December’s box (did somebody say holiday gifts?!), sign up by November 29 at the Sunshine Society.
