Excellence Group Luxury Hotels and Resorts has broken ground on a significant new development in the Dominican Republic’s tourist hub of Punta Cana.

The project, Excellence El Carmen, will be located in the Playas de Uvero Alto area of greater Punta Cana.

The 452-room, all-suite project will be Excellence’s second resort in the country.

“We are extremely excited to open our second resort in Punta Cana, and will surely be our very best property to date,” said Domingo Aznar, VP Sales & Marketing for Excellence Group Luxury Hotels & Resorts. “The destination has been an extremely successful location for our all-adult, all-suites luxury all-inclusive brand. We look forward to a great response from tourists who will come to experience our unique and upscale offering.”

The resort is slated to include 11 restaurants, 15 bars, 20 swimming pools, a spa and a fitness center, among other amenities.

The $100 million project is slated to open Sept. 1, 2016.
