The Caribbean’s newest luxury resort has opened its doors on the west coast of the island of St Lucia.

Capella Hotels’ first-ever Caribbean property, the Capella Marigot Bay, officially launched operations on Monday.

The West Indian-styled property includes a total of 124 rooms and suites, along with four dining and bar options.

That includes the Bayside Cafe, the Brut Bar and Pool Bar, the Grill at 14*61 and what’s dubbed the first-ever Rum Cave in the Caribbean, coming with its own “Rum Maestro” for tastings and events.

The property is the transformation of the former Discovery Hotel, which was sold in 2013 to a New York-based investment group.

Capella operates a small global portfolio of five-star properties from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to Singapore.

The company also has a resort on the Riviera Maya in its development pipeline.
