The newly-formed Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc has named William Griffith its new chief executive officer.

The BTMI is one of two newly-created divisions of tourism, along with the Barbados Tourism Product Authority.

Griffith, who commenced his role Oct. 13, most recently served as the Bermuda Department of Tourism’s Director of Tourism for six years.

The agency also announced that interim CEO Petra Roach would move to the new position of director USA, while Cheryl Carter has been named the BTMI’s director for the United Kingdom, and Peter Mayers the director for Canada.

Vicky Chandler will be the BTMI’s director for the Caribbean and Latin America.

“Our new CEO and team of global directors will work together to create a bold new organization focused on keeping the island top of mind in the dynamic and ever-changing tourism industry,” BTMI Chairman Alvin Jemmott said in a statement. “The extensive experience and skills these individuals possess will help us to fulfill our goal of driving island tourism and increasing destination awareness. We very much look forward to welcoming them to their new roles for Barbados.”
