Antigua and Barbuda officials recently concluded talks with officials at both American Airlines and Delta Airlines, with several new flights in the pipeline.

The talks, which were held in Miami and Atlanta, respectively, included a delegation led by Antigua Tourism Minister Asot Michael.

In a statement, Antigua’s government said the talks covered the country’s under-construction airport terminal, which is slated to open in March 2015, and other projects like the planned Beaches resort and the recently-announced Yida tourism project.

Antigua’s government said that American Airlines would be continuing its four weekly flights from New York to Antigua, with two new flights launching from JFK in September and October.

Those flights will depart on Fridays and Sundays (they will overnight in Antigua and depart the next day).

The government said negotiations were continuing on a second daily flight on Saturdays and Sundays from the Miami market.

The government said Delta confirmed it would be adding a second flight from Atlanta to Antigua.
