Bahamas Foreign Minister Meets With Prime Minister of Qatar

Bahamas Foreign Minister Frederick Mitchell met on Monday with Qatar’s Prime Minister, Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, in Doha.
The meeting came on the sidelines of the Doha Economic Forum in Qatar’s capital, which Mitchell was attending, joined by Minister for Grand Bahama Michael Darville.
The visit came after Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States visited the Bahamas and Grand Bahama in particular last year.
Qatar and the Bahamas formed diplomatic relations in 2013.
In a statement, the Bahamian government said it was “showcasing itself in Qatar and United Arab Emirates as a secure country for investment.”
A number of Caribbean countries have been making a push in recent years to deepen ties with the Middle East, which has, in turn, been increasing its investment within the region.
