The Dutch Caribbean island of St Eustatius has unveiled a new tourism logo.

The logo shows a diver under the “Quill,”, a sun and a historic street lamp, flanked by a morning glory flower with a blue bead inside.

The Quill is located at the south end of the island; it is a tropical rainforest with eight open trails that was designated as a national park in May 1998.

Morning glories were rediscovered in Statia after more than 100 years of dormancy.

Such street lamps are common in the island’s historical core.

The blue bead symbolizes what were known as “slave trade beads,” which were used as a means of currency among slaves. The beads are still being washed to shore on the island to this day.

“It depicts everything that we have to offer in just one logo,” the St Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation said in a statement.
