Kevin Krigger of the US Virgin Islands finished fifth at the Preakness Stakes riding Goldencents Saturday as Oxbow, ridden by Gary Stevens, won the race.

Krigger was bidding to become the first African-American jockey to win the Preakness since 1989.

Goldencents was ranked third in pre-race betting, at 9-to-1, while Orb was heavily favoured at 3-to-5.

Another Caribbean jockey, Joel Rosario of the Dominican Republic, failed to show after riding Orb to victory in the Kentucky Derby earlier this month, finishing fourth.
