Guadeloupe’s Mickael Gelabale Helps France Top Argentina, 71-64

Guadeloupe native Mickael Gelabale hit three three-pointers and scored 13 points to help lift France past Argentina in the qualifying round of Olympic Men’s Basketball Preliminary Group A.

Gelabale also added six rebounds and two assists for Les Bleus.

France was led by San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker, who finished with 17 points. Fellow Spur Manu Ginobili led Argentina with 26 points.

Guadeloupe’s other representative in the Men’s tournament, Florent Pietrus, went scoreless, while Martinique native Ronny Turiaf chipped in one bucket and two rebounds in 18 minutes.

Pietrus had led the team’s Caribbean contingent with eight points on Sunday. He did grab five rebounds in Tuesday’s victory.
