Delta Is Returning to the Island of Barbados With Nonstop Flights
Pristine beaches, grand luxury resorts and the world’s most delicious flying fish. These are some of the reasons Barbados continues to see tourism heat up, and now it’s about to get a big boost from the United States market.
Delta Air Lines has announced that it will be returning to Barbados this winter, in what will be a sizable boost for Barbados’ efforts to draw more visitors from America.
Delta’s return includes two major nonstop routes: Atlanta and New York- John F. Kennedy.
Atlanta-Barbados service will begin Nov. 23, while flights from JFL will be starting Dec. 21.
Atlanta flights to Barbados will be operating every day, while the New York nonstop service is a weekly flight operating on Saturdays, Caribbean Journal confirmed.
“We are extremely excited to welcome Delta Airlines back to Barbados for the forthcoming winter season,” said Peter Mayers, U.S. director for the Barbados Ministry of Tourism, Inc. “This new non-stop service from two U.S. major hubs, Atlanta and New York City, marks a significant milestone for us and will not only add an element of convenience for the traveler but will further complement our efforts to grow and diversify the U.S. market.”
Atlanta-Barbados flights take off at 9:45 AM and arrive at Grantley Adams International Airport at 3:20 PM. New York-Barbados flights leave the city at 8:15 AM and touch down in Barbados at 2:05 PM.
Both routes will be operated o Boeing 737-800 aircraft, according to Delta.
It’s the second major return to the Caribbean for Delta, which just relaunched its flights to Curacao for the first time in 14 years.
“Delta is establishing vital connections from Atlanta and across the U.S. that allow our customers to reach their dream vacation destinations with ease,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s senior vice president of Network Planning. “This latest schedule gives travelers unparalleled choice, with up to 1,000 weekly flights to distinctive places throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.”
