By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 22, 2023

Curacao’s tourism renaissance is showing no signs of slowing down, according to new data.

September was another strong month for the island, with hotels continuing to perform well and visitor arrivals climbing.

Hotels in Curacao continue to perform well, even in the heart of the slow season in the Caribbean.

Hotels on the island reached 75.6 perfect occupancy last month, up 7.9 percentage points from the 67.7 percent rate in September of last year.

Hotel rates on the island averaged $206.73 in September, up 9.1 percent from September, while revenue per available room reached $156.39, a 22 percent jump compared to September 2022.

Data was provided by analytics firm STR, which surveyed 15 hotels comprising 2,646 rooms on the Dutch Caribbean island.

The island welcomed 45,952 stopover visitors last month — 23.4 percent higher than the same period last year.

In a statement, Jim Hepple, interim managing director of the Curacao Hotel and Tourism Association, said the organization was “extremely pleased at the record level of visitors achieved in September.”
