Marriott Opens New Hotel in Panama

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 29, 2023

The Marriott Hotels brand is back in Panama.

Marriott has opened the new Marriott Panama Hotel, a 331-room hotel connected to the Albrook Mall, the largest shopping mall in Central America.

The Marriott brand has taken over the former Wyndham property in the Allbrook Mall.

As part of the rebranding, the hotel renovated its restaurant, bar, pool area and lobby, along with adding a new “M Club,” a place Marriott says is an “exclusive spot to rest, recharge and refocus, every day at any time.”

Marriott International has several other hotels in the city under other brands like W, Courtyard and Sheraton, among others.

“We are thrilled to bring back the Marriott Hotels experience to Panama City, with a strategic location and ample convention spaces. With the recovery of the travel industry and the return of in-person events, we are ready to host memorable meetings, conventions, and events, in the lives of our guests and transcendental for the business sector,” said Glenn Simon, General Manager of the hotel.

The hotel has two eateries, a coffee shop, 24-hour room service, a pool deck and 21 different meeting rooms and two ballrooms comprising a total of nearly 50,000 square feet of space.

It’s the latest brand to debut in what has become a sizzling hotel market in Panama City.

That follows the recent debut of the most anticipated new luxury resort in Panama in years: Sofitel’s new Legend resort in the Casco Viejo area of the capital.
