By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 8, 2023

Accor’s Sofitel brand has opened its newest luxury hotel in the Caribbean Basin: the sparkling new Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo in Panama.

The luxury hotel is set in the “old city” of Panama, one of the most charming historic neighborhoods in the wider region.

The 159-room-and-suite property had its soft opening this week, ahead of a planned Jan. 19 grand opening.

The hotel is set in the former Club Union, a popular social club in Panama City in the last century.

The property’s culinary program is highlighted by an eatery by Chef Lorenzo Di Gravio, who earned a Michelin star as the executive chef of Rome’s Assaje restaurant.

The Sofitel will soon be opening a rooftop bar with views of Panama’s skyline called Ammi.
