A New Margaritaville All-Inclusive Is Coming to the Dominican Republic

By: Alexander Britell - May 11, 2021

The Dominican Republic’s hottest all-inclusive destination is set for another major resort: the Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana, which is opening in October.

The resort is the second product of a partnership between Margaritaville and Karisma Hotels and Resorts, following last summer’s debut of the Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

The new-build resort will feature 228 suites and 40 villas; the latter will include access to their own lagoon pool and swamp-bar; each villa includes its own private pool or swim-up access to the lagoon pool.

“We are excited to introduce Margaritaville Island Reserve to Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic, one of the most stunning beaches in the world,” said John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville. “Our expanding partnership with Karisma is all about delivering the ultimate island experience – relaxation, fun, exceptional dining, over-the-top service, and quality entertainment – all to be enjoyed in the Margaritaville state of mind.”

The property will be centered around the “Gourmet Village,” which will include everything from an urban theater called the Margaritaville Main Stage to seven different food and beverage concepts. (There will be 10 concepts in all).

The resort will also include a signature 5 O’ Clock Somewhere Bar and Swim Up Bar, with views of SJuanillo Beach.

That’s along with a “sports hub” with pickle ball, tennis and aqua fitness classes; an 11,000-square-foot St. Somewhere Spa and a 2,200-square-foot, 24-hour fitness center called Fins Up.

“After launching the Island Reserve concept in [the] Riviera Maya, we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Margaritaville to bring this lifestyle to the Dominican Republic in a way that really captures Cap Cana as a destination,” said Mario Mathieu, Senior Vice President of Business Development, Design and Construction at Karisma Hotels and Resorts. “Cap Cana is the ideal setting for the newest addition to the portfolio, truly encompassing the carefree escapism that is central to the brand.”

It’s the latest addition to the growing portfolio of all-inclusive resorts in Cap Cana, which includes properties like the Hyatt Ziva-Zilara complex, Secrets Cap Cana and the TRS Cap Cana, among others.
