Marriott Reopens Waves All-Inclusive Hotel in Barbados

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - August 28, 2020

Marriott’s Waves Hotel and Spa in Barbados has officially reopened, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The all-inclusive boutique hotel on the Platinum Coast of Barbados has reopened under Marriott’s new “Commitment to Clean” health and safety protocols.

The hotel is part of the Elegant Hotels collection of resorts that Marriott acquired last year to fuel its all-inclusive growth in the wider Caribbean region.

Marriott also announced that the Waves would be part of the Barbados Welcome Stamp program, which is taking applications for long-term visitors to work on the island remotely for up to a year.

Accordingly, Waves is now offering a monthly, all-inclusive, long-term rental program that represents a 35 percent reduction on the normal nightly rate.

The inclusions range from food and beverage to high-speed Wi-Fi to daily fitness classes and complimentary spa treatments.

“The entire property has health and wellness at its core, offering a laid back luxury feel with driftwood and natural hue décor, daily exercise classes overlooking the Caribbean Sea, an indulgent spa offering a range of body and beauty treatments, complimentary watersports and more – all blended with the relaxing signature fragrance of grapefruit woven throughout the hotel allowing the ultimate escape for body and mind,” Marriott said in a statement.

Barbados is one of several destinations now offering long-term stay programs, along with Bermuda and Anguilla.

The latter just announced its tourism reopening, and is actively seeking longer-term visitors as part of its push.

Barbados reopened for tourism in July; you can find the destination’s travel protocols here.
