Canadian travel giant Sunwing is launching a pair of new routes to the Caribbean region.

One is the long-awaited return of direct flights from Montreal to Havana, with service on Mondays and Fridays beginning Dec. 13. (The flights will run through March 13, 2020)

The other new route is a new weekly nonstop flight from Canada’s Waterloo International Airport to Cancun on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

That service will run on Wednesdays fro Dec. 18 through April 8, 2020.

“We are delighted to be returning to the Waterloo Region and to be offering twice as many flight services this winter,” said Andrew Dawson, president of tour operations for Sunwing. “Cancun is one of our most popular vacation destinations and we’re sure it will be well received by our customers.”

The relaunched Cuba flights will mean its first direct flights from Montreal to Havana since 2012.

“We are excited to once again be offering Montreal residents the popular direct flight service to Havana,” said Sam Char, executive vice president for Sunwing Travel Group in Quebec. “As the world’s largest vacation provider to Cuba we’re thrilled to be offering even more vacation options in this varied destination that has a perennial appeal for our customers in Quebec.”
