Four Caribbean destinations in the Caribbean are seeing particularly strong increases in interest for the holiday season, according to new data from the Expedia group.

Punta Cana, San Juan, Montego Bay and Aruba have the highest amount of interest for travel in December compared to the same period last year.

Montego Bay, Jamaica’s tourism capital, is up nearly 25 percent; Punta Cana and San Juan are up nearly 10 percent and Aruba is up by nearly 15 percent, according to Expedia search data.

The San Juan number is particularly significant given Puerto Rico’s work to recover from Hurricane Maria, with a number of hotels already back open and operating.

“The holiday season is always an exciting time for the Caribbean, as the region receives a wave of travelers from top markets like the U.S. and Canada who are looking to escape the winter cold,” said Rafael del Castillo, Senior Director, Resorts, Market Management, the Expedia group. “Expedia is proud to work with our Caribbean hotel partners to ensure they are capitalizing on the heavy influx of travelers.”
