A New Caribbean “Glamping” Hotel

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 6, 2016 - 11:24 am

Bonaire has a new hotel, and it’s not quite like any other in the Caribbean.

It’s called the Red Palm Village, and it bills itself as a “glamping” resort, or, for the uninitiated, a “glamour camping” hotel.

That means the rooms are halfway between bungalows and tents, making for a special kind of indoor-outdoor living experience. And that’s the point — each of the chalets and studios have large porches with large shutter doors that can be turned from indoor to outdoor spaces in a moment.

In all, there are 10 “chalets,” with living rooms, kitchens, two bedrooms and bathrooms with rain showers, along with 10 semi-detached studios.

Each of the “lodges” has capacity for between two and four people, with all of the units set in a garden home to a two pools, a family jacuzzi and a bar/restaurant called the Red Palm Pool Restaurant (open to guests and the public at large).

Prices start at $70 per night for the two-person lodges, and $150 per night for four-person lodges.
