By: - December 29th, 2015

Air Force 2 is coming back to the Caribbean.

While US President Barack Obama is heading to Hawaii, his vice president is making a high-profile trip to the Caribbean.

As he has a number of times in his tenure, US Vice President Joe Biden is visiting the US Virgin Island of St Croix, this time to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

It’s actually Biden’s second visit to the island this year, after a trip in March.

Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden arrived on the island over the weekend and will be staying through the New Year.

The VP, who was for a short time considered a presidential candidate for 2016, will be staying until Jan. 2, according to a statement from the White House.

St Croix, the largest of the US Virgin Islands, has been struggling to return to the regional tourism limelight, although its growing food scene has been making a name for itself in recent years.

Another White House visit can’t hurt the cause.
