In Florida, the Diversity of Caribbean Art

In honor of the tenth anniversary of Caribbean-American heritage month, Miramar Cultural Center and Latin American Art Pavilion have collaborated to present an art exhibit called “Caribbean Colorful Diversity.”
The exhibition is comprised of the works of six world renowned artists — hailing from Haiti, Cuba, and Aruba — who form a whose stylistic synergy represents the Caribbean’s rich cultural history and diverse blend of customs and traditions.
“Infusing international artists into Broward County and making these artists accessible to the general public is a wonderful way to celebrate, honor, and embrace Caribbean culture,” said LAAP founder María Nápoles.
The event began early this month and runs through Aug. 28, is free and open to the public, and is just one of many that will unfold during the month of June to honor Caribbean American Heritage Month.
“Understanding the history of the Caribbean regions goes a long way toward understanding its people,” said Camasha Cevieux, Assistant Director for the City of Miramar’s Department of Cultural Affairs. “It is only fitting that we have artists of this caliber pay tribute to this rich culture and celebrate the many contributions Caribbean-Americans have made in this country during Caribbean-American Heritage Month.”
The exhibition is located at the Miramar Cultural Center – ArtsPark Ansin Family Art Gallery in Miramar, Florida.
