American Airlines is planning $2 billion in customer improvements, the company said Monday.

The plans include fully lie-flat seats, international Wi-Fi, a new Admirals Club designa nd an “upgraded assortment of complimentary healthy food, cocktails and more.”

“Now that we have the network to compete globally, we’re going to deliver a product that’s better than our competitors,” said Doug Parker, chairman and CEO of American Airlines. “Refreshed cabins and clubs, modernized ticket counters, improved technology and new aircraft are further examples of how American is ‘going for great’ – providing our outstanding team members the tools they need to deliver a great experience for our customers.”

By the end of 2014, American Airlines will have taken delivery of almost 100 new aircraft; that would make it what it called the “youngest fleet of any US based network carrier.”

As they relate to Caribbean flights, American said it would be adding fully life-flat seats in business class on its oft-used 757 aircraft, along with refreshed cabins, power ports and in-flight connectivity in the main cabin.

The company’s new 737s will also have power ports in every row, among other features.
