Trinidad Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine held talks last week with Steve Pastor, the president of Conventional Production for Australia’s BHP Billiton energy firm.

Ramnarine was joined for the talks by Vincent Pereira, Trinidad and Tobago Country Manager for BHP Billiton, Vice President Dr Carla Noel and Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy Heidi Wong.

The talks focused on BHP’s “future plans for the Angostura field in particular its investment in Angostura Phase III which is expected to bring more natural gas into production by 2016,” according to a statement released this week by Trinidad’s Ministry of Energy.

The meeting came just a few days after high-level talks between Ramnarine and Carl Henric Svanberg, the chairman of fellow energy giant BP plc.

BP and BHP are among the largest investors in Trinidad’s energy sector.
