By: - June 23rd, 2011

Guyana’s President, Bharrat Jagdeo, met with his German counterpart, Christian Wulff to discuss climate change and green growth at Wulff’s official residence, Bellevue. “In the run up to [climate conference] Copenhagen, the issue of climate change and green growth received an unprecedented level of first-order political attention,” Jagdeo said after the meeting. “Sadly, that attention has faded in many cases.” He said Germany’s commitment was firm, both to emissions cuts and the protection of bio-divesity. Jagdeo’s visit included meetings with Dr Christoph Heusgen, foreign policy advisor to Chancellor Angela Merkel and Wener Hoyer, the deputy German foreign minister. [NCN Guyana]
